Copyright Credit for Images - diagram

You all know about my soap box over copyright protection. Well, Pia, Erin and Yvette have created a wonderful visual break down of how to know if you can or shouldn't post an image. Click here to see a larger version at Yvette's site. (And yes, they give permission to share it - with credit!) They're even talking about making it available as a poster. Groovy.
Do you wonder how you can properly use my Coloring Page Tuesday images? I try to make my copyright guidelines clear with my Angel Policy.

Luv Chicken

Here's my latest Luv Monster - really a Luv Chicken. He didn't turn out as well as Luv Monster #1 and Luv Monster #2. I used a velour fabric for his body. Loved the color (a gorgeous aqua/teal), but it wouldn't hold an edge fer nuthin'. Neither would the upholstery sample I used for his belly. Hm. So, back to felt and simple cottons for the next monster. Anybody know of a good resource for non-standard colors of felt fabric?

Lego Printer

I was thinking about replacing my Epson with this one...

Adamish will even teach you how to make your own if you visit his site.

View my blog DYNAMICALLY!

Blogger has a cool new feature which works with blogs like mine. Curious to enjoy my content in some neat new ways? Check out the MOSAIC feature. Or how about the FLIPCARD feature?

What about the TIMESLIDE view? Ot the ever groovy SIDEBAR view? Oh, and my fave - the SNAPSHOT view.

If you'd prefer to follow my blog in one of these layouts from now on (although none of them seem to pull up my coloring page images) - the trick is to add "view/flipcard (or whatever)" to the end of my URL. So, http://dulemba.blogspot.com/view/flipcard. Or just bookmark the URL in your favorites. Groovy, eh?

The Thieving MagPie

Illustrator pal, Barbara Johansen Newman recently turned me on to a fabulous creator - Richard Dunbrack of The Thieving Magpie. Richard takes found and sculpted objects and turns them into new, wonderful, whimsical pieces like this grandfather's clock. He's also been known to turn kitchens into works of art as well. Is it too early to start wishing for birthday presents?

Judging Books By Their Covers

With eReaders becoming more prevalent, there's been a lot of talk about the future of book covers. This is an especially good story on the subject by CBS Sunday Morning:

Wooden Xylophone

Humans are still capable of creating new wonders of the world. This xylophone is positively amazing...

Arts in Schools Grants

Did you know that I do school visits? Yup. Most children's book authors and illustrators do. However, school budgets have lowered and teachers are busier than ever, so it doesn't happen nearly as often as it used to.
Which is a shame, because I've seen remarkable things happen when children meet adults who were once just like them, wide eyed with wonder and possibilities, maybe from the same state or even the same town, who are now doing remarkable things with words and pictures.
These days it takes a very dedicated librarian, media specialist or teacher to make a school visit happen. And when it's not just time, but you have to beg and borrow for the funds too? Well...
Target is trying to make it easier. They are offering $2,000 grants to send creatives to your schools. (Between the honorarium, hotel, travel, etc. that's about what it costs.) Applications are accepted between March 1 and April 20th - so now's the time to apply!
Thanks to SLJ for the heads up.

Bunnies next week - I swear!
Meanwhile, Earth Day is Friday, April 22nd. Is your community or school doing something special to celebrate? Maybe cleaning up a park or playground? Maybe it's something as simple as awareness. If that's your goal, please feel free to use this year's Earth Day image, or any of my other Earth Day images as you need. This is my way little way to help.
Also, if you need the high resolution files to help promote your non-profit Earth Day activities on t-shirts or canvas bags, I'm happy to send them to your printer as needed. Just email me. I also have some ready-to-order products in my Zazzle store. There's still a little bit of time to order - so check it out! (Click the logo.)

Green Eggs n' Ham... cake

Dr. Seuss's birthday was a few weeks ago and celebrations were large. Lots of people made cakes which were recently featured on Cake Wrecks. There are some fantastically creative designs, but my favorite was a cake of green eggs and ham created by Violet Sweet Shoppe. Gotta love it!
